Second Life, the virtual world and Depression Management

Second Life is a virtual world with numerous educational opportunities and tools. It was launched in 2003 and is being developed by Linden Labs. As of January, 2009, almost 20 million accounts were registered and the number is still growing. If you enter this virtual realm, you can organize meetings, give presentations or use interactive models easily.

Depression Support Group

"This is a peer depression support group for people with or who have had real life depression or related mood and anxiety disorders. You are welcome to join us and talk about your depression related problems or you can come support those who do. Everyone at the meeting is dealing with or has dealt with depression in the past.

This is a serious event for all ages. We ask that all attendees respect the privacy and feelings of the others. Those at the meeting who are not respecting others or the purpose of the meeting will be asked to leave with the consequence of being ejected or banned. Centering Place is here to help, not hinder."

How to find medical events?

The web 2.0 and the 3D web area of CyberHealthyMap features useful links, peer review articles and teleport links. The database is organized by Maged N. Kamel Boulos.

One of the largest databases of such Second Life groups can be found at SLHealthy, a wiki that currently lists about 300 groups or areas related to healthcare.
