Writing a post is almost totally the same in different blogging platforms so we will use Wordpress as an example. But before writing your first blogpost, we should define some terms that might be unfamiliar for you.

Tag: You can tag your posts to make it easier for readers to find it fast. There is a huge difference between focusing on surgery ina post or to mention the surgery word in a post. That's why tags can help you differentiate between real content and posts just mentioning a term.

Post: A blog article that you publish on your blog and that is organized in a reverse chronological order.

Trackback and pingback: When someone links to one of your posts, you will be notifies automatically in the comment section. Trackback is a way to notify blog systems that you’ve linked to them.



Your first post


  1. Click on the Write button.



  2. Give a title. It should be a title that can represent your subject properly.

  3. Write your post and feel free to use the editing options widely.

  4. Just save it if you want to work on it later without publishing. Publish it if it is ready to be open to the public. And if you would like it to be published later automatically, click on edit:



  5. Set time and date and click Publish.



How to choose tags or categories?


The aim is to let readers find your posts easily. Use tags and categories that can really represent the content you are focusing on.

Category:



If you add your post to the Medicine category, it means you assign it to that category. All the posts you assigned to this category will be listed when clicking on the Medicine category link.



How to add a category on video:



Tags:



Tags are free form words and describe your post in more detail. Categories are chosen from a managed list, but tags are written in a text box below your post. Choose a tag by clicking on it in the list of add a new one:



For example, If you write a post about a new breast cancer treatment, it should be categorized as Cancer, but can have tags like breast cancer, surgery, treatment, medicine.

How to upload media content


You add several types of media content to your posts. It takes just a few seconds to add an image to your post by clicking on Add an image:



Choose which file to upload, set the details and Insert into post.

You can embed slideshows uploaded to Slideshare.net by using their instructions.





Protect your post


Protect your post with password so it will require people to enter the password to be able to view the post and comments.
