Clinical Cases and Images in Radiology

Medical professionals upload their favourite cases so they can contribute to medical education globally. Here are a few sites and communities that present clinical cases.

Casebook at Scanman Blog

This page contains links to all the radiological cases that I have posted in my blog in various forms with the diagnosis or relevant findings mentioned next to the post title (which are mostly vague and/or opaque). This list contains only posts with images that I can justifiably classify as individual cases. Other posts related to radiology can be found here. For now, I have listed the cases in chronological order; oldest at the bottom, newest at the top. I plan to categorize them according to organ systems sometime in the future.

Cases Journal

Cases Journal publishes case reports from all areas of medicine. The journal will publish any report that is understandable, ethical, authentic, and includes all information essential to its interpretation.

Radiology Case Reports

Radiology Case Reports is published by the University of Washington in the public interest. This journal provides a peer-reviewed open-access venue for publishing case reports that feature radiologic imaging.

Society of Thoracic Radiology Educational Resources

The Society of Thoracic Radiology was founded in 1982 to develop an inclusive organization of radiologists interested in and dedicated to cardiopulmonary radiology.

Swansea Radiology

This site aims to provide easy access to a radiology resource which includes a ‘case of the week’, tutorials for medical students, a film library and mock exam cases for radiology registrars.

X-Ray Risk

While the need for education in this area has clearly been established, there are no widely available resources that provide information to both patients and health care providers about the increased risk of cancer from medical imaging. X-RayRisk.com is an educational website that focuses on estimating this risk. One of the site’s main features is a web based calculator that allows users to track their imaging history and estimate their personal risk, while providing answers to frequently asked questions. (It's accredited by HONcode.)

SpringerImages is a growing collection of scientific images that spans the scientific, technical and medical fields, including high-quality clinical images from images. The SpringerImages interface enables users to search faster, more broadly and more accurately, through captions, keywords, context and more, even jumping from the image to the source article. Users can create personalized image “sets,” and can easily export images for use in their own presentations or lectures.
